Although eyelashes provide a barrier function, keeping out dust and debris, most women feel they serve a greater purpose. And we agree. Adding definition to the eye and camouflaging the signs of aging, long, voluminous lashes are the ultimate sign of femininity. Time causes the lashes to appear thin and short, but you can make a statement with lust-worthy lash treatments, tools and techniques.
Just ask celebrity makeup artist Taylor Chang-Babaian, who shares her secrets for awe-inspiring, eye-enhancing lashes in her book Style Eyes (dedicated entirely to eye makeup!). For a voluminous gamine look, she recommends applying black cream eyeliner along the lower lashline and white pencil eyeliner in the lower rim of the eye. For the extra pop seen in the bottom-left photo, apply chunks of long individual eyelashes along the lower lashline after applying your mascara.
