If you didn’t think global tariff hikes would have any effect on your beauty routine, it might be time to think again. Following a handful of brands who have announced slightly higher prices and manufacturing changes due to economic uncertainty in the last few months, The Inkey List has followed suit.
According to Cosmetics Business, the UK-based skin-care brand best known for its minimalistic packaging and low prices has made price adjustments on at least four of its most popular products. For customers in the U.S. and Canada, the brand’s Omega Water Cream—an oil-free moisturizer featuring key ingredients like niacinamide, ceramides and glycerin—is set to go from $12 to $13, while the Caffeine Eye Cream—an antioxidant-rich cream meant to reduce puffiness, dark circles and signs of fatigue under the eyes—will go from $11 to $12. Other products like the beloved Hydrocolloid Invisible Pimple Patches and the Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick are also set to see a slight rise in price by 50 cents to a dollar.
The Inkey List launched in 2018 after being co-founded by Colette Laxton and Mark Curry. The brand has since gone viral for its delivery of products with high-quality, science-backed ingredients—like hyaluronic acid, retinol and niacinamide—at very affordable price points. Aside from its affordability, The Inkey List has also set itself apart from other brands in the space by encouraging consumer education as opposed to strictly selling products.
So far, the above products are the only ones in the brand’s very extensive lineup to be affected by the tariffs, but it’s important to note that these increases could be a lot worse. As far as other brands are concerned, we’ll just have to wait and see how everyone else fares under the new economic policy.
