Tate McRae’s music has blown up in a big way this year. With iconic music videos, a performance on Saturday Night Live and a world tour on the books, the music industry is hers for the taking. With all that success can come some stress. McRae recently admitted to Vogue that she’s “very new to skin care…I’ve basically just been using water my whole life.” Although she’s new to skin care, it seems she’s mastered it quickly.

Tate McRae’s skin-care secrets

“I started getting the worst acne of my life right before I went on SNL. I actually had to get a cortisone shot in my cheek,” says McRae. “It’s just been so bad this past year, so I really had to focus on not wearing too much makeup and making sure my skin looks okay.” McRae’s complexion is notably clear in the video, so it seems her skin-care approach is working.

Before stepping on set for a music video, she likes to pop on Patchology Serve Chilled Rosé Hydrating Eye Gels ($4). “I’ll put these on so I don’t look dead,” she says. While she lets those patches do their job, she rolls out her face with a jade roller “to bring circulation back” to her skin. Following these steps, she says she feels “a teensy bit more awake.”

Other items in Tate McRae’s skin-care routine include a luxe serum, Augustinus Bader The Refillable Serum with  TFC8 ($365), and a lip care staple, Mario Badescu Moisturizing Lip Balm ($8).
