Shani Darden never planned to sell an eye cream to round out her best-selling line of celebrity-approved actives. “I only ended up making one because I sell a couple of eye creams and my clients kept telling me, ‘It’s just not doing enough,’” Darden tells us. “It wasn’t planned.”
With a first-class aesthetician at the helm and a suite of celebrities testing each iteration, you can imagine the finished product didn’t appear overnight. “It took me a really long time to formulate,” says Darden. “I spent over two years with it, sampling it on my clients to make sure it was perfect.”
Available now, Shani Darden Intensive Eye Renewal Cream ($68) is formulated with firming silk tree extract, peptides, ceramides and shea butter to tackle a whole host of eye-related issues. “This one really does it all,” she says.
Along with serious brightening and firming properties, Darden was set on making it safe to use on the eyelids—and she delivered. “Sagging on the eyelids is a universal problem because the area is so neglected,” she explains. “You can use my retinol under your eyes, so you’re getting that anti-aging effect there, but I wanted to make something for someone who can’t use a retinol.”
“There are so many eye creams out now that I didn’t want to put one out unless I was sure that it had amazing results,” says Darden. I’m really proud of it, it’s a good one.”
