Along with her standout on-screen performances, Scarlett Johansson is known for her porcelain complexion, and, according to WWD, the star is making her picture-perfect skin a bit easier to achieve for all of us. The actress is set to launch a skin-care line in 2022, which she notes has been in the making for about two years.
“I’ve been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty since I was a child,” Johansson tells WWD. “My mother instilled in me a passion for self-care from my early teenage years. Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty.”
Alongside chairman and founder Johansson, beauty and fashion executive Kate Foster has taken on the role of co-founder of the brand, which is being funded by The Najafi Companies. “We are proud to have built a brand that fills a void in the market and addresses a true consumer need,” says Foster in a release. “Our brand platform is differentiated and has a great deal of runway for growth and expansion. This is truly just the beginning.”
While exact products have yet to be unveiled, we do know that the star—a past face of L’Oréal Paris—knows a thing or two about the beauty space and we can’t wait to learn more.

According to a post on the brand’s (brand new) Instagram feed, Johansson’s skin-care line has been named The Outset. Vogue’s global network lead, Celia Ellenberg, says The Outset is “a skin-care brand built around her own beauty success [Johansson] has had managing breakouts, the dryness, and the general maladies that come with many hours spent in the makeup chair and in front of the camera.” Also portrayed by feed, the brands pillars are “Return to The Essential,” “Find Freedom in The Uncomplicated” and “Fostering New Beginnings.”
The star of Vogue’s March cover, Johansson tells the publication her inspiration behind starting her own line: “I’ve been the face of several luxury brands throughout my career, and all of those experiences were really wonderful. But—how do I put this? I guess I always felt like I was sort of playing a character in those campaigns, and as I evolved, I wanted to create and represent a brand that was true to me.”
Another post from the brand shows four of the products in the line. While we can’t make out specific names, they could be a toner or exfoliant, serum, moisturizer and eye cream. Launching 3/1, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new and noteworthy brand launch.
