Paige DeSorbo is never one to gate-keep. As the ultimate girl’s girl, she’s always straight up about how she’s saving on high-fashion finds or what is working to keep her skin and hair in check. She recently teamed up with TRESemmé for the new Lamellar Gloss Collection’s Give Gloss campaign. As one of the internet’s designated “for the girls” influencers, it’s only right she’s the face behind the campaign that aims to gas up other girlies through compliments and being candid about beauty secrets.
It’s almost hot girl summer, and we predict the freshly single celeb will be headlining the whole thing. We caught up with the Summer House star and soon-to-be-published author to get her secrets on how she keeps her hair so glossy, writing a book with bestie and co-podcast host Hannah Berner and her hot girl summer prep.
On summer trends she’s excited for…
“I’m actually very excited that the bohemian trend is kind of coming back because I love that hair like a loose wave, especially for the summer, and I’m so not bohemian in style but I love a trend and trying new trends so I’m excited to experiment in that way. Do you remember that Lindsay Lohan movie Georgia Rules? I don’t know why, but I was obsessed with that movie when it came out. I think I was like a freshman in high school and I remember she just wore so many white dresses with that bohemian feel and bracelets. Lindsay Lohan in Georgia Rules is my vibe this summer.”
On her hot girl summer prep…
“I’m trying to get my 10K steps in, but honestly I don’t. I do pilates like twice a week and then I just implemented walking up my stairs once a day, which started because my elevator was down.
Honestly, when I came off of tour I felt like my adrenaline left my body, so my skin has been breaking out like crazy. That’s why I feel like it’s even more important for me to have good hair days. You can’t go into a place and not be having either a good face day or good hair day, and so right now, it’s all about having good hair days.”
On her partnership with TRESemmé…
“I’ve used TRESemmé since I was little. It was like one of my first memories of a hair product because my mom loves hairspray, so that’s the first thing I used. I didn’t know there were other hair products. Then, during my very first fashion week in New York City, I remember seeing a TRESemmé pop up and just being like, ‘Wait, that’s so cool,’ so when they asked me to partner, I was like, ‘This is perfect.’ And TRESemmé is truly the only brand I can ever find a mini hairspray of.”
On the new Lamellar Gloss Collection…
“I have so many flyaways all the time, and if I’m doing a high pony or a bun and I want to feel more put together, I’ll just put a little of the Finishing Oil ($7) in there, and it‘s perfect. The finishing Shine Spray ($10) is a great last step. Whenever I do a regular pony, even if I’m just going to Pilates, I always feel like I look so messy with my baby hairs, so it’s so much easier, and you feel so much more put together with the products.”
On writing How to Giggle…
“When they first reached out to us, and they were like, ‘We want you to write a book,’ I was like, ‘Certainly not us.’ Everyone I ever talked to from Bravo who had written a book was like, ‘Oh you get a ghostwriter, you’ll be fine. You just talk to them, and they’ll write it up the way it’s supposed to be written up.’ But then Simon & Schuster was like, ‘No this is comedy, you guys actually have to write it. We can’t give you a ghostwriter.’ That was very humbling, and then I realized I really don’t know punctuation, but Hannah’s mom used to be a principal, so she actually helped us edit a lot of it. All of the things she would write for me in red would be like, ‘Paige we don’t know what you’re talking about” or ‘This doesn’t make any sense. Rewrite.’
We’re so conversational, so I had to figure out how to make it sound normal. Going back and adding jokes in was really fun. We just did the audiobook last week, and we loved doing it. It was so much fun. I got to see certain parts of the book that were Hannah’s parts that I didn’t read when we were writing them, so I saw them when we were doing the audiobook, and it’s just so funny and good.
We split up the writing. We went through what we wanted each chapter to be, and we did Hannah’s version and Paige’s version. It’s a very easy, light, fun read. I was really thinking of the girls who are going on vacation and want to be a girl who brings a book on vacation—I want to be that girl, but I never am. But you could truly pick up at any point in the book and read one page, then put it down. Of course, there are pictures. We had a minimum page that we had to get to, and we were like, “Well, we’ll add pictures.”
