Some say that multitasking is an unhealthy habit—one that stymies productivity and lessens the quality of the target tasks. Others claim that the practice itself is more myth than reality, since our brains aren’t able to focus on multiple assignment at once—we’re really just switching back and forth quickly between the chores at hand.

Up until this point, we didn’t know what we believed, until we met the Multi-Tasker Four-in-One Makeup Brush ($24) from Alleyoop. We’d like to posit our own theory about versatility: It’s awesome.
Legend has it that Alleyoop founder Leila Kashani created a Slack channel and asked women what their most-used makeup brushes were. Then, she completely eliminated the need for all of them when she introduced the Multi-Tasker, which contains a trio of brushes—and one foundation sponge—for flawless makeup application. Simply pop off the sponge or blush brush on either end to reveal a second and smaller tool within.
Though the brand aims to create space that may not have previously existed on our bathroom counters and in our makeup bags, we find that our time is conserved as well (mostly from not having to dig through our extensive brush collections) and it’s easy to see why 8,000 other people are trying to get their hands on the makeup tool as well. Though the brand itself launched just six months ago, the Multi-Tasker has already sold out, and has an online waitlist of literal thousands.
In fact, the entire first line of products is comprised of well-received multitaskers, from the innovative eyeliner-meets-highlighter-meets-lip-liner-meets-brow-pencil to the razor with hidden spray bottle and moisturizing bar. We can’t wait to see what comes next from the genius minds behind the brand—might we suggest a toothbrush with toothpaste tablet compartment and flosser head or maybe a combo of hair brushes—and just hope that we can get to it before it’s completely sold out.
