Whether or not it’s a good habit, television has been our escape from reality as of late—and what better way to forget about a tough year than by time traveling back to the early 1800s? (Cue Bridgerton theme song). Aside from the romance, drama and diversity in Netflix’s five-part series Bridgerton, we are also swooning over the makeup looks. Scroll through to see some of the products the cast’s makeup artists can’t step foot on set without.

Dr. PAWPAW Multipurpose Soothing Balm ($8) was a staple product in most of our cast bags, even the men,” says Bridgerton head hair and makeup designer Marc Pilcher per a release, who recommends applying the product with your fingers or a lipstick brush. “It provided everyone with protection against the elements when we filmed during the winter and on night shoots.”

According to hair and makeup artist Lynda Pearce, they also mixed the balm with a lip liner or lip stain, “or sometimes applied it just on its own. It’s a fantastic product to keep the lips hydrated and glowing.”

In a recent article from Vogue, Pilcher’s team member Claire Matthews offers an inside peek at how to create the “ultimate” Bridgerton makeup look. For a base, she uses either a foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Among her go-to’s: Laura Mercier, Clarins, Bobbi Brown, and the cult-classic Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($64). Next, she swipes Shiseido Synchro Skin Illuminator across the cheekbones and directly underneath the jaw for a lifted, sculpted appearance. Finally, Matthews applies Laura Mercier La Palette Naturelle Face and Cheek Palette ($52) on the apples of the cheeks before patting the sheer but effective By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder ($60) on the oil-prone areas of the face.

Matthews constantly creates a neutral, highlighted eye for the cast, which is where the statement Viseart Neutral Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($80) and Laura Mercier Parisian Nudes Eyeshadow Palette ($55) make a debut. For the lips, she prefers to match a natural lip liner like Laura Mercier Longwear Lip Liner ($26) or MAC Lip Pencil ($18) with a matching lip color like Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($19), Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel ($14).
