Between a not-so-Zen reunion and getting her less-calorie Soirée spirit business off the ground, The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Margaret Josephs hasn’t had a stress-free spring. We recently caught up with the 56-year-old to talk skin care, plastic surgery, and startups.

On her holy grails…

Like my wardrobe, my beauty products are a mix of high and low. You will always find an Eve Lom Cleansing Balm ($85), Eve Lom Muslin Facecloth ($27) and Irish Spring soap in my shower. I created a custom blend for my face…I mix Vita Liberata Body Blur with my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($47) and all of my makeup artists love it! Marge Senior always said, “Spend your last dollar on a lipstick!” Words to live by! There will always be Charlotte Tilbury Kim K lipstick ($35) in my purse and I use Iconic Nude Lipcheat pencil ($25) with that.

On her aesthetic procedures…

I am devoted to my plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Karolak and regularly maintain my Botox; I also do have lasers sporadically. I naturally have a great skin “quality.” But, truthfully, my facelift was the best thing I ever did. There is nothing topical that can achieve the results a facelift can once you have muscle loss and sagging. Dr. Karolak gives you the youthful appearance you naturally had when you were younger—rather than a pulled look. He’s a genius!

On what she’d like to try next…

I have never done microneedling and that’s something I am curious about. I have naturally fine hair, so I have thought about trying a treatment to promote a healthier scalp and hair growth.

On wellness…

Every time women strive to do something for themselves for health and wellness, it is subject to scrutiny and seen as controversial. I have lost weight, but it is not about a number on the scale for me. I saw an article on peptides for all areas of wellness and I was struggling with feeling sluggish, bloated and not myself going through the menopause I really wanted to explore the options; I contacted Dr. Jamie Gabel at Advitam in NYC from the article and we worked together to create a compound of peptides and GLP-1 and I also have hormone pellets. As a result, I feel and look amazing—if I do say so myself!

On starting a new business…

Even with a platform and a public figure at the helm, starting a new business from the ground up is exactly that—a true start-up. The beverage industry is a huge learning curve…and I don’t have any experience. We had to jump in and ask ALL the questions! Naturally, there have been some road blocks and unexpected turns, which has been both difficult and rewarding at the same time.

On self-care…

I have previously been public with this and I’m not ashamed to say it! I leave the reunion and head directly to McDonald’s Drive-Thru. It is exactly what you need after 13 hours of drama! This year, I booked a relaxing facial at a beautiful new spa in my hometown, The Hudson Med Spa and will be headed for a full-body massage at The Valmont Spa at The Carlyle in New York. Hopefully, that is enough and I won’t need an exorcism.
