Launch List: The Best Hair Care Launching in July featured image

Hundreds of products come across our desks every month, but not all of them deliver on their claims or live up to the hype. (Not everything that goes viral on TikTok is a miracle worker.) This is our exclusive curation of the best-in-class hair-care products receiving rave reviews from our team and hitting shelves right now.

Klorane Soothing Gel Conditioner with Peony ($20)

Though not a new product, the formula is new and improved with 95-percent naturally derived ingredients, at the heart of which is Chinese-cultivated peonies that are known for their soothing properties. Designed for sensitive scalps, this conditioner is unique in that it’s a gel instead of a cream, which feels light, cool and comfortable on a dry, irritated and/or itchy scalp. The precision tip makes it easy to apply, like you would a scalp serum, and it won’t leave behind a greasy residue if you’re reading this thinking, conditioner on my roots?

In a consumer test on 31 individuals with irritated scalps who used the conditioner twice a week for three weeks, 81 percent said their scalp irritation and discomfort were soothed, and 100 percent said their scalp was moisturized.

Neuro Sleek Smoothing Hot Brush ($125)

Get sleek strands in next to no time with this high-tech hot brush that uses advanced ionic technology. The bristles and curved edges really grab the hair—some hot brushes don’t have any tension—and the ion generator emits shine-enhancing, frizz-reducing power as you slide the brush root to tip.

Plus, it also has five heat settings to suit all hair textures and types—even super curly. For me personally, this is the ideal tool to quickly smooth out awkward kinks after a night of sleeping on wet hair, which I do all summer long.

MONAT Smoothing Anti-Frizz Deep Intensive Treatment ($52)

I know I’m not the only one who loves summer weather, but hates summer hair because of one thing: frizz! This weekly deep-conditioning treatment—it has a fruity-floral scent—was designed for medium-to-thick hair types, including curls and coils, that need that extra dose of frizz-fighting power. A unique plant-based complex with illipe and kokum butters battles humidity to keep frizz and flyaways at bay for up to 72 hours. The butters make the treatment very rich, so I would not recommend this for fine hair.

In an instrumental test conducted by a third-party lab, the treatment reduced frizz by half, even on curls and coils, and hair was six times smoother.

4 / 9

Milk Shake Floral Leave In Conditioner ($23)

Not a new product, but a new sweet-floral scent—one of the original vanilla-scented version sells every minute—this vegan, leave-in-conditioner is the ultimate detangler for all hair types. Soy proteins mix with hyaluronic acid and nourishing moringa extract to strengthen, moisturize and smooth damaged hair. The addition of antioxidant-rich hydroglycolic sunflower extract and vitamin E helps shield hair color from fading and locks in shine.

And though it does contain silicone, it’s amodimethicone specifically, which is less of a culprit compared to other silicones when it comes to creating unwanted buildup on the hair.

5 / 9

Wet Brush Natural Marble Original Detangler ($13)

The same detangling power we love from Wet Brush in a new design inspired by natural marble, this brush is one you’ll want to keep out on your vanity. It comes in Jade, Dusty Rose and Blue Slate (not pictured) and features those iconic IntelliFlex bristles that made the Wet Brush so famous from the get-go—they glide through hair so easily—and I’ve interviewed dozens of celebrity hairstylists over the years who swear by it.

6 / 9

Philip Kingsley DENSITY Preserving Scalp Drops ($68)

If you’ve ever tried the brand’s Trichotherapy Tricho 7 Scalp Drops, these are similar, but the formula is new and improved to make them even better. The serum is still lightweight, but absorbs faster without a greasy residue, and the alcohol has been removed, so the formula is now purely water-based and suitable for those with sensitive scalps. It also has a cooling effect thanks to a menthyl derivative; fruit-derived saw palmetto helps reduce hair loss; and caffeine stimulates the scalp to keep existing hair follicles perky.

Another exciting update is the new claim that the serum is clinically proven to reduce hair shedding after three months, which is based on the results of an independent clinical trial where participants used the Drops daily for at least 12 weeks.

7 / 9

Joico YouthLock Treatment Masque ($25.50)

For dry, frizzy, aging hair that needs some quick revitalization, this mask delivers (there’s also a matching shampoo and conditioner if you want the full YouthLock experience). Formulated with strengthening collagen, shine-boosting buriti oil, and the brand’s SmartRelease technology—it uses liposomes to continuously release a blend of rosehip oil, bond-enhancing arginine and keratin—it helps reduce hair fallout due to breakage and restores a more youthful, nourished look. It’s also safe for color-treated hair.

8 / 9

BaBylissPRO Studio Design Series Rootreacher Flat Iron ($150)

Designed by Sophia Wojczak, the granddaughter of Conair founder Leandro Rizzuto—she sketched every little detail in the brand’s Stamford Design Lab—this flat iron features a patent-pending teardrop shape that allows it to get as close to the scalp as possible for smooth roots. The 1.5-inch plates heat up to 450 degrees and are infused with carbon ionic technology that helps reduce static and frizz, making it a great tool to have in your summertime hair kit, but also all year-round.

9 / 9

ColorProof Weekly Blonde Masque ($40)

If you were a fan of the brand’s Violet Toning Masque, grab this new upgraded, reformulated version. Super-pigmented purple tones banish brassiness—it’s the perfect weekly maintenance treatment between salon visits—to keep blonde hair bright and smooth (I love the fruity-floral scent, too). ColorProof’s Advanced ColorLast System also helps extend the life of your color, which is essential, especially if you wash frequently or you’re in and out of pools this summer and your strands are exposed to chlorine.
