La Roche-Posay’s New Toleriane Double Repair Matte Moisturizer Is an Oily-Skin Must-Have featured image

As we enter the summer months and humidity levels skyrocket, my combination skin can take a turn toward the oilier side, especially in my T-zone (a complaint dermatologists hear often). La Roche-Posay’s new Toleriane Double Repair Matte Moisturizer is unique in that it’s part of the brand’s Toleriane collection (a derm-favorite for those with sensitive skin), but it also offers everyday essential moisture and serious shine control for oily complexions.

My Skin Type:

Combination (on the more oily side during higher-humidity months)

The Benefits:

Thanks to the brand’s signature Prebiotic Thermal Water (known for its various skin-healing benefits dating back to the 1400s) and glycerin, skin stays hydrated all day, but with zero shine because of the addition of perlite and silica that absorb oil to give skin a matte finish. Moisture-retaining ceramides and soothing niacinamide help support and repair the skin barrier, which is necessary for sensitive skin. And the blend of these key actives together also helps minimize the appearance of large pores (it’s noncomedogenic too) and fine lines, while also giving skin a smoother, softer texture over time.

Key Ingredients:

Mineral-rich La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water, ceramide-3, niacinamide, glycerin, perlite, silica

What It’s Free From:

Oil, fragrance, parabens, drying alcohols

What It Smells Like:

It’s free of synthetic fragrances, but also doesn’t contain any fragrant ingredients (like essential oils), so there is essentially no scent.

What It Feels Like:

A light, gel-meets-lotion

How to Use It:

After cleansing, apply to dry skin—both face and neck, or just on oily areas. It can be used morning and night, but I only used it during the day when I needed oil control. For anyone with dry skin, I’d skip out on this one and try this La Roche-Posay formula instead, which is also lightweight (it’s creamier versus gel-based), but more moisturizing.

The Bottom Line:

Though I did need a heavier moisturizer on drier areas like my cheeks, this formula kept my T-zone matte all day, but it didn’t feel dry. It would be a great summertime staple for anyone with oily skin looking for a daily moisturizer with dermatologist-approved ingredients.

Price/Where to Buy:
