We’re all in need of a de-bloating trick sometimes, and health guru Kate Hudson is spilling her tummy-trimming secrets. In a recent interview with Bustle, the ageless star shares a glimpse at her wellness routine, from her favorite workouts to her Chinese medicine-backed drink of choice.

Breaking down her approach to wellness, Hudson says it’s just as much about supporting her mental health and managing stress as it is about keeping up with an active, healthy lifestyle. “My mornings are simple,” she says. “I wake up, I have some warm water and black coffee, hang out with my kids, take them to school, and then I work out.”

But before getting her sweat on, Hudson likes to de-bloat with a morning drink. “I drink a lot of green and herbal teas with dandelion root,” she says, adding that these teas are already incorporated into some of the wellness powders from her brand, InBloom. “It’s great for water retention.” Warm lemon water is also on the roster, as her Chinese medicine doctor tells her it’s essential for gut health.

When it comes to workouts, pilates, functional training—her trainer Brian Nguyen helps her out in this field—dancing and biking on the Peloton are her mainstays. “I switch it up a lot,” she tells Bustle. But, she can’t get a good sweat on without some solid jams. Included on her playlist: Arcade Fire, EDM, hip-hop and even contemporary dance music.

While she’s a sucker for healthy morning habits and fitness, Hudson’s mental health thrives the most when she’s out with friends. “Connection plays a huge part in how we feel. And when we’re feeling happier, our immune system is stronger.”
