Karol G is not holding back about her disappointment about her new GQ Mexico cover. The singer says although she was happy about the cover opportunity, she doesn’t even recognize herself. Despite telling the publication that she was unhappy with how they altered her image, they ran the cover with major edits to her face and body. She wants fans to know that is not what she looks like.

“I don’t even know where to start this message,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Today my GQ magazine cover was made public, a cover with an image that does NOT represent me. My face doesn’t look like that, my body doesn’t look like that. I am very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally.”

She adds that she communicated to GQ Mexico how she felt and their decision to run the image knowing she did not approve it was damaging as well. “Despite the fact I made it clear I was not in agreement with the number of revisions they did, they did nothing about it. As if in order for me to look good I needed all those changes.”

In addition to feeling disrespected, Karol G says the Photoshop fail also sends a negative message to women in general. “I understand the repercussions that this can have. Beyond feeling that it is disrespectful to me, it is also disrespectful to us women who wake up every day looking to feel comfortable with ourselves despite society’s stereotypes.”
