This morning I reveled in my newly tanned, glowing skin. No, I didn’t just return from a beach vacation or spend the day basking in the sun (in fact, I try not to tan at all). My skin looked luminous because I used Givenchy Healthy Glow Powder ($50) on my face, my neck and just at the top of my chest. It’s only makeup, but I tell you, it’s better than buying a new dress.
To put it simply, this is a newer bronzer on the market that works for just about every skin tone. It comes in four different shades that all look light (even the darkest shade) in the compact, but give a surprisingly tan, luminescent color to the skin, so you don’t need to be heavy handed with this stuff. It’s also talc-free and comes in a baked gel formula, so it’s easy to blend and feels light on your skin. And though it looks shimmery before you apply, it doesn’t make your skin look like a disco ball (my biggest pet peeve with bronzers). Instead you end up with perfectly smooth skin that looks healthy and ready to take on the summer.
Some quick tips for the bronzing novice:
– Create the number 3 when you apply bronzer with a blush brush. Start on one side of your face and sweep it over your forehead, then roll it down to your cheekbone and last, over your jawbone. Then repeat on the other side.
– Bronzer is great to sweep over your shoulders and collarbone to get some color there. If you want to create the look of cleavage, you can swipe it down the center of your chest too (just don’t over do it).
