Candace Cameron Bure on the Beauty Problem That Constantly Plagues Her

Between gearing up for season two of Fuller House and co-hosting The View, 40-year-old Candace Cameron Bure has a beyond busy schedule. And now the mom of three is adding one more role to her resume: Advocate for recycling, teaming up with Unilever to bring attention to way bottle—namely, our beauty bottles—are recycled in the U.S. The scary stat: 56 percent of Americans recycle their kitchen items, yet only 14 percent do the same for the bottles in their bathroom.

On her “A-ha” moment to get involved with the campaign:

“It’s funny because I didn’t even think about recycling in the bathroom before Unilever approached me. When I first heard the stat that only 14 percent of Americans recycle their bathroom products, my mind was blown. But it makes so much sense and it’s such a small easy step you can take in order to help the environment.”

On the importance of packaging and ingredients in her own beauty routine:

“I get most of my skin products through my dermatologist so I would say I focus more on the ingredients versus the packaging. When I look for products outside of what my dermatologist recommends, I look for products with natural ingredients that are accessible.”

On her best decade yet:

“Definitely my 30s. During my 30s, I finally felt like I reached the age that I had always felt. I also got really comfortable with who I was during my 30s, making me into the person I am today.”

On her big beauty regret:

“I’m not sure if this is a beauty regret but I got my belly button pierced when I was younger and I totally regret it! Now I have a scar where it used to be.”

“Flossing my teeth! I still do it because I know it’s good for me, but it’s definitely one of those daily rituals that I don’t look forward to.”

“We used to (and still do) curl our eyelashes with an eyelash curler on set all the time! I got Andrea Barbara (Kimmy Gibbler) into it and now she loves it too.”

On her daughter Natasha’s popular YouTube channel

“It’s unbelievable—she does it [her makeup] all herself! I think I learn more from her than she does from me. Obviously, when she was little she used to watch me to learn the basics, but then she would always replicate with her own spin on it.
