The World’s Most Popular Makeup Shades Look Great on Everyone
“I don’t know, let me Google it,” has been a commonplace answer for many of life’s toughest (and nominal) questions. But as we well know, the search engine isn’t just exclusive to lyrics we can’t remember or the ages of our favorite celebrities—it’s also an incredible beauty resource.
Yesstyle.com, the beauty, fashion and lifestyle retailer, compiled Google’s Global Trends data, which measures online search interest around the world, to uncover the beauty trends that span across the globe, not just our backyards, and the results are equal parts fascinating and flattering.
First up: lipstick. After looking at country-level data for the most searched lipstick colors, pink ranks number one with 11 percent of searches, and nude takes second place at 10 percent. As for eye shadow popularity, global searches based on shadow color concluded that nude is the most popular, ranking in 12 percent of global searches. More surprisingly, however, is the second-place winner of blue, which garnered 8 percent of total global searches surrounding the topic.
Interested in trying out the popular trends for yourself? Right now, we're loving the newly launched NARS Voyageur Eyeshadow Palette in Suede ($32) for a day-to-night nude shadow palette; Pat McGrath Labs EYEdols Eye Shadow Singles in metallic Sextrovert or taupe Statuesque ($25 each) are single, do-it-all hues that go on smooth and last all night. To paint your pout pink, we're partial to Charlotte Tilbury Latex Love Long-Lasting Lipstick in Berry Nude ($34) for glossy shine, Huda Beauty Matte Power Bullet Lipstick ($25) for a velvet finish, and Smith & Cult Fractal in Pink ($22) for a pink, high-glitter payoff that looks chic, not cheesy.
