While the Tonys may have been a big night for Tony Award-nominated actor George Clooney—who is still celebrating his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck—we couldn’t keep our eyes off human rights activist and Clooney’s long time boo, Amal Clooney. Over the past several awards circuits, Clooney has become known for her timeless glam looks, and the Tony Awards were no exception. She arrived at the awards alongside George, sporting a Rita Hayworth-inspired beauty look. Ahead, the full breakdown of everything she used to achieve that quintessential old-Hollywood glamour.
Amal Clooney’s Old-Hollywood Glamour Secrets, Revealed
For her night at the Tonys, Clooney tapped her longtime glam guru, Dimitris Giannetos, who says he was “Inspired by the pearls and Old Hollywood dress,” and decided to give her a “classic Rita Hayworth glam.” Tackling the hair first, Giannetos explained that he “started with towel-dried hair and blow-dried it using a round brush to create volume.” Then, he placed Clooney’s hair in rollers and let them set while he worked on her makeup, ensuring the result would be voluminous, bouncy curls à la Hayworth herself.
“I used all Charlotte Tilbury products to create a look that enhanced her natural beauty,” Giannetos went on. “The vibe we were going for was a soft old Hollywood glamour with neutral coral tones,” he explains, noting that Clooney’s “flawless skin was the secret of the entire look.” To enhance her already glowing complexion, Giannetos opted for Charlotte Tilbury’s Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick in Shade 5 ($46) for “a radiant, healthy finish.” Once the makeup was done, Giannetos removed the rollers and brushed out Clooney’s hair with a paddle brush for that perfectly undone look. “To hold the style and keep everything frizz-free for the red carpet, I finished with plenty of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray ($16),” he says.
