I've long been enamored with LAFCO's candles in their signature handblown glass vessels—initially, I admit, because they look like high-end works of art all on their own. But their appeal extends far beyond their A-plus aesthetics: The scents are equally refined, a dangerous combination that tempts you to hoard them instead of burning them. Now, that same allure comes in wearable form: The brand just unveiled a fine fragrance collection inspired by its candles, 34 years after its founding.
For longtime fans, the launch may feel less surprising than inevitable. After years of customers asking to wear their favorite LAFCO scents, founder Jon Bresler has turned six of the brand’s most popular fragrances into perfumes. The lineup runs the gamut from the white-floral First Bloom ($98) and salt-kissed Bare Summer ($98) to the smoky Fireside Light ($98). Golden Morning ($98) is soft and sunlit, Midnight Aura ($98) gives fruit a moodier edge and Tropic Waters ($98) is practically a vacation in a bottle.
Like LAFCO candles, the perfumes are formulated with essential oils. Across the six scents, notes range from bergamot, myrtle and cardamom to neroli and sandalwood, making it entirely possible that you’ll have trouble choosing just one. Luckily, indecisive types can test-drive the lineup before committing: Each scent comes in a 10 mL Travel Eau de Parfum ($38), or you can scoop up the Eau de Parfum Travel Collection ($228) featuring all six.
My favorite detail is the cap, which recreates the swirled-glass look of the candle vessels that won me over in the first place—a very satisfying full-circle moment. Shop the very photogenic collection ahead.
