J.Lo is dropping some easy-to-follow makeup tutorials and we’re here for them.
First up: All the steps behind her red lip, which includes an unexpected—and decidedly non-red—lip liner shade.
“One of the great things about the holidays is getting to wear a red lip,” the Jenny from the Block singer shared. “The way that I like to do it is to use a neutral pencil. I always start with the neutral pencil. Some people think you should use a red lip liner; I don’t love a red liner—I like it to be neutral. It makes the lips look fuller and plumper.”

The ultra-blendable pencils can be used to define and contour via a creamy, long-lasting formula.
Lopez then said she takes her favorite red, applies it in the middle, and uses a lip brush to detail the corners.
“When I think of red lips I think of Marilyn Monroe, but I also think of Gwen Stefani and Taylor Swift…I am a Swiftie, too,” she admitted.
The final step, a little top-off from her own brand: “This season it’s not going to be done without my Beso Balm ($19),” Lopez said of the hydrating lip mask. “This is going to amplify the look…you can really slather it on.”
