ILIA is known for its makeup powered by skin-care ingredients to improve your skin, so it makes perfect sense that the brand has rolled out its first standalone sunscreen. Starting April 7, Sun Serum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 ($40) is available for purchase. It’s a zinc oxide–based, broad-spectrum SPF that reportedly delivers 24-hour hydration without an oily finish. It joins cult-favorite Super Serum Skin Tint ($48), which features SPF 40 but is a skin tint first, SPF second (whereas this newest launch is SPF first).

Wearing daily sunscreen is essential for keeping skin healthy and protected, and ILIA’s new mineral formula does more than just block UV rays. The watery serum texture is lightweight, refreshing on skin and delivers skin-care benefits such as hydration and skin-barrier support, thanks to ingredients such as seven molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, barrier-boosting sugars and botanicals. It’s also fragrance-free, helps control oil, feels ultra-lightweight on the face and is suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone.
To further underscore the skin-care benefits, the brand shared results from a 53-person clinical study. In the study, 100 percent of participants said the sunscreen felt lightweight and comfortable, glided on smoothly, blended evenly and kept skin hydrated all day. Meanwhile, 98 percent agreed it controlled shine throughout the day. It was also shown to support the skin barrier. You can also feel confident wearing it on its own or under makeup: 100 percent of participants said it didn’t pill and that makeup applied evenly without separation.
Beyond broad-spectrum SPF and skin-care benefits, this weightless serum also provides protection against infrared and visible light thanks to its tinted formula. It’s offered in two flexible shades (Light-Medium and Medium-Deep). Sun Serum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is available now at ILIABeauty.com and Sephora.
