Ciara Miller made quite a few bold statements during the latest Summer House reunion—her makeup look being one of them. Miller always delivers a beauty moment, but with all eyes on her for the contentious episode, we knew she’d bring things to another level. Makeup artist Kasey Spickard had the task of creating a look that would hold up under the harsh glare of cameras and the even harsher glare of, well, everything else going on in that room. The final look felt both effortless and intentional, much like the energy Miller has been radiating all season.

For the big night, Spickard went for an “effortless and not overdone” moment. “For Ciara's Summer House reunion look, I wanted something that felt sexy and strong but still had a softness to it.” He notes that his references were “Aaliyah, Naomi and Tyra at their peak. That late 90s, early 2000s moment, think supermodel glamour and R&B cool.”

To achieve this, Spickard “wanted a smoky eye that was blended out rather than cut sharp, skin that looked like skin and a lip that warmed everything up without taking over the face.” He says, “The skin was the foundation of everything. I layered Laneige hydration underneath the makeup so it had that luminous, alive quality. Lit from within.” For skin prep, Spickard used Laneige Cream Skin Toner ($36) and Water Bank Cream Moisturizer ($38).

For the eyes, Spickard aimed for “deep and sultry but soft at the edges, and the lip warm and glazed, just enough color and shine to feel intentional without competing with the eye.” He says the lips were a layered moment using Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry ($24) to prep, then the new Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum in Chocolate Frosting ($22) for color. “The whole look is about balance. Strong where it needs to be, soft where it counts.”
