It may only be mid-August, but in New York, there is a distinct crispness in the air; an unmistakable sign that the (seemingly unrelenting) heat of the height of summer is over and autumn is just around the corner. Personally, that means I'm taking every advantage of every sunny, warm day we have left before the inevitable happens: shorter daylight hours, sweaters, gloves and tanned skin from a bottle, not the sun.

Legendary actress, iconic model and best-selling author Brooke Shields is already way ahead of me. In a recent interview with The Strategist, the Blue Lagoon star divulged her new favorite way to get a tan all year long: Tan-Luxe The Crème Gradual Self Tanning Face Moisturizer ($49).

"I used to use the Jergens, and the smell was just so bad," Shields admits. "With Tan-Luxe, I was amazed at how good the color was, how not smelly it was and the overall bronze. It just bronzed me so naturally, and it doesn’t get orange. I’m kind of addicted to it—when I did Mother of the Bride, once a week I would just get all sponged up. It doesn’t get all over your sheets, and there are so many different versions of it (the mousse and the spray and the cream), so you can really custom make it."

Shoppers echo Shields' sentiments. Several love the gradual glow and say the moisturizer, self-tanner hybrid helps color look more natural and "less splotchy" than straight self-tanners. "It adds color and great moisture at the same time," raves one user. A second customer shared, "It's very subtle and very natural. There's no fake tan smell, and it's actually incredibly moisturizing... [it's] perfect for my combination skin. I find I can go without any makeup when I use this because it just gives me a nice healthy color that looks naturally even." A 58-year-old with "dehydrated/dry" skin and "brown spots that tend to suck up self tanning products" calls Tan-Luxe The Crème a "godsend" because "it moisturizers as well as deposits color" that "looks completely natural."
