U.S. figure skater Alysa Liu officially ended Team USA’s two-decade drought of individual women’s figure skating medals at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 when she won gold Thursday night. (Sasha Cohen took silver in 2006; the last U.S. gold in the event was Sarah Hughes in 2002.) And while most of us can’t imagine what that kind of exhilaration feels like, the 20-year-old champion proved she’s still a relatable 20-year-old at heart—with one pressing concern before stepping onto the podium: “Where’s my lipstick?”
Liu paused on her way to the podium to swipe on Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil ($24)—which social media sleuths believe to be the shade Delight, a rosy brown—for a quick touch-up before accepting her medal.
Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil isn’t your typical lip oil. The high-shine, tinted formula starts with a cushiony jelly texture that melts into a nourishing oil, leaving lips moisturized long after application. Jojoba and sunflower seed oils help keep lips hydrated and protected from the elements—an especially fitting choice for an ice sport at the Winter Olympics. The formula also delivers a subtle plumping effect and comes in eight shades, from Liu’s rosy brown Delight to Affection, a muted plum.
Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez even caught the now-viral moment, reacting on Instagram, “Congratulations @alysaxliu. (She’s just like me fr).”
