We were excited to report that received FDA clearance in January. Especially since many of our readers are overwhelmingly excited to try it according to our . And now that doctors have used the treatment for a few months, they are reporting positive effects from the one-time, minimally invasive procedure that targets cellulite below the skin’s surface.

“Patients have been pleased with what they’ve been seeing,” says Montclair, NJ, plastic surgeon Barry DiBernado, MD. Cellulaze is a welcome addition to a plastic surgeon’s toolkit because other cellulite treatments simply don’t work very well, he says.

So what’s the main difference between Cellulaze and other cellulite treatments? Most target the surface of the skin, so they don’t address the three anatomical causes of cellulite: excess fat under the skin that pushes up to create bumps, depressions caused by vertical bands (septae) that pull down and create dimples, and the thin layer of dermis that allows the fat below to herniate, causing those dreaded lumps that look like orange peel.

“Those surface-level procedures may last a few months, but Cellulaze patients from the trials are seeing results that are still holding two or three years later,” says Dr. DiBernado.
