Super Bowl LIX is four days away, but by the looks of Taylor Swift’s entirely “Chiefs Red” Grammys glam (complete with a ruby-encrusted “T” upper thigh chain), she’s already red-y for the big game. We have no idea what designer fashion Swift will reveal at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday—where her beau Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs hope to win for the third year in a row—but we can almost guarantee one thing: she’ll rock a red lip.
Swift’s love of red lipstick predates Kelce and her almost weekly spot in the Chiefs cheering suite. But, the team’s official colors of red and gold have given Swift a standing occasion to show off her favorite shades of red since the pair debuted their romance at a Chiefs game in September 2023. We predict Swifties around the country will join the singer by painting on some red lipstick this Sunday. And, we gathered 13 of our favorite “Chiefs Red” lipsticks to inspire your glam this Super Bowl Sunday.
MAC M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Red Rock ($25)
This creamy, full coverage matte lipstick from MAC won’t dry out as you watch the game, thanks to its coconut oil, organic shea and cocoa butter formula. The color “Red Rock” is described as a “classic clean red.”
PAT McGRATH LABS MatteTrance Lipstick in Obsessed ($39)
Swift relied heavily on Pat McGrath Labs makeup for the entirety of the Eras Tour—especially her rain-proof red lip. More recently though, Swift has been spotted sporting auburn and orangy red hues, which is perfectly encapsulated in Pat McGrath Labs Matte Trance Lipstick in “Obsessed,” described as a “bright orange-red.”
Westman Atelier Lip Suede Matte Lpstick in Pip ($50)
Lip Suede, from editor-loved makeup brand Westman Atelier, is infused with hyaluronic acid and peptides to hydrate and plump lips, meadowfoam extract to nourish lips for a comfortable wear and kaolin clay for a matte finish that stays put. For Sunday’s festivities, we love the shade “Pip,” a deep poppy red.
NARS Explicit Lipstick in Unauthorized ($40)
We know Swift loves NARS lipstick. The brand’s Explicit Lipstick in “Unauthorized” is as classic as red gets with its satin, creamy finish.
Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Exhilarator ($9)
Maybelline’s wallet-friendly liquid lipstick delivers an intense color that lasts for hours. We also appreciate the precise applicator for a clean and sharp look. The shade “Exhilarator” is a rich ruby red.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Hollywood Vixen ($35)
For a bit of Hollywood pizazz, there’s no better choice than Charlotte Tilbury‘s iconic lipsticks. Matte Revolution Lipstick features 3D glow pigments that help lips appear wider and fuller, says the brand. The formula is infused with orchid extract, the one ingredient responsible for the lipstick’s famous cashmere finish. “Hollywood Vixen” is a true, bright red.
MERIT Beauty Signature Matte Lipstick in Vermillion ($26)
If you prefer a soft, blurred lip look, allow me to introduce you to MERIT’s Signature Matte Lipstick. Its velvety texture is a dream to wear; hyaluronic acid helps moisturize and plump lips’ appearance, while sesame seed extract smooths. “Vermillion” is an enticingly warm red.
Rare Beauty Lip Soufflé Lip Cream in Inspire ($20)
Give it to Swift’s BFF Selena Gomez to make a weightless air-whipped lip cream you’ll want to wear long after the Super Bowl ends. Lip Soufflé is made with a botanical blend of lotus, gardenia, white waterlily and nourishing vitamin E. “Inspire” is a beautiful bright red.
CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color in Rouge Charnel ($50)
Swift wore head-to-toe CHANEL at a recent Chiefs playoff game vs. the Houston Texans, so we can assume the musician also knows the power of CHANEL lipstick. Rouge Allure is a matte lipstick that “wears like a second skin,” and “Rouge Charnel” is described as an “intense fire red shade.”
Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored ($29)
I still think about Rihanna‘s Super Bowl performance (in another all-red outfit)–remember when she applied Fenty Beauty makeup mid-act? Iconic. Just as iconic is Fenty’s Stunna Lip Paint, a soft-matte liquid lipstick that’s, unsurprisingly, designed to flatter all skin tones. “Uncensored” is known as a “perfect universal red.”
e.l.f. O Face Satin Lipstick in No Regrets ($8)
e.l.f.’s O Face Lipstick has been favorably compared to its much, much more expensive counterparts. With marula oil, squalene and jojoba esters, every swipe feels more luxurious than it’s $8 price tag. “No Regrets” is a bold and creamy cherry red.
NYX Shine Loud Liquid Lipstick in Rebel Red ($10)
Another great drugstore red lipstick comes from NYX—and it’s technically a duo. A liquid lipstick and a shiny clear gloss, wear both or just color, either way, you’re getting a lip that won’t transfer, smudge, bleed or fade for hours. “Rebel Red” has a bold, warm hue.
DIOR Rouge Dior Lipstick in 999 ($49)
We couldn’t write a “best of” red lipstick article without including Dior’s 999, “the iconic red.” It’s made with shea butter for intense nourishment, and a blend of florals to increase lips suppleness, softness and radiance.
