Ask anyone with really good skin what serum they use and, chances are, you’ll hear a solid list of SkinCeuticals products in the mix.
The derm-recommended brand doesn’t launch a ton of newness willy-nilly. So, when they do, the skin care–obsessed take notice.
Entire the brand-new Cell Cycle Catalyst ($115), which just hit shelves last week. The daily-use serum promises to target aging by accelerating cellular turnover, boosting cellular energy and vitality, stimulating barrier renewal, and removing dead surface cells.
Fueled by a 7.7-percent multi-acid complex and 1-percent taurine, the ultra-lightweight serum accelerates cell turnover and maintains cellular hydration. (If you use the brand’s CE Ferulic, this formula is best described as clear and a tad more watery.)
The data also is legit: In clinical trials, users saw a 21-percent reduction in global fine lines, a 16-percent decrease in discoloration, a 13-percent improvement in visible pores, a 15-percent increase in skin radiance, and a 16-percent visible improvement in acne marks in just eight weeks.
The Benefits:
We’re going to turn this one over to dermatologist Ted Lain, MD, who worked with the brand on the launch: “Cell Cycle Catalyst sets itself apart by targeting aging through accelerated cellular turnover and energy, along with barrier renewal. Its key ingredients, including a 7.7-percent multi-acid complex and 1-percent taurine, work synergistically to maintain cellular hydration and vitality. Clinical trials have shown impressive results within eight weeks, with users experiencing a reduction in fine lines, discoloration, visible pores, and acne marks, alongside improved skin radiance. Versatile and easy to use, it can be incorporated seamlessly into daily skin-care routines as a standalone treatment or as a pre-step to anti-aging regimens.”
Key Ingredients:
The multi-acid complex is made up of 2-percent phytic acid, 1-percent mandelic acid, .2-percent salicylic acid, 2-percent lactic acid, 2.5-percent glycolic acid, plus the 1-percent taurine, a natural amino acid found in skin to help boost cellular energy and activate cell renewal cycles.
Bottom Line:
I’ve been using this serum for about two months now, and my super sensitive skin really likes it. It doesn’t make me red and it doesn’t overcomplicate everything else in my routine. It’s super easy to layer with other products and my skin doesn’t peel off if I use this in the morning after a night of my prescription retinol—which is huge. It’s also honestly one of the most effective products I’ve ever seen go to bat with my big pores.
