And just like that…one of the OG nail trends is officially back, at least according to our style and beauty icon, Sarah Jessica Parker. Whether she’s in the editorial world as a 30-something New Yorker or navigating life as a widow, author and podcast host, Parker has taught us almost everything we know about life, love and fashion throughout her decades-long career as Carrie Bradshaw. But let’s be honest—Parker’s off-screen looks are just as influential, like the short French manicure she wore on Alex Cooper‘s “Call Her Daddy” podcast this week.

SJP’s Short French Manicure Is Equal Parts Chic and Functional

For years, when a new beauty trend came into focus, the others immediately became “cringe,” making it difficult for nostalgic styles to return to the mainstream. Now, though, all that is old is new again, and we as beauty lovers have developed a freer approach to trends as a whole, allowing for once banished trends—like the short, square French manicure—to shine again.

At 60 years old, Parker is just as fashion-forward as ever, and we still turn to the actress and producer when we need chic, timeless look advice. For her “Call Her Daddy” appearance, Parker opted for soft waves, a neutral, peachy glam look and a houndstooth blazer for a totally covetable ensemble. But our eyes were immediately drawn to our favorite A-list accessory: her mani. Melding practicality with an air of sophistication, Parker’s short, squoval French nails are living proof that some things just never go out of style.
