Looking to add some volume to your pout without shelling out the big bucks or waiting around for results that may never come? Whether you’re after a subtle boost or an at-home touch-up to your in-office results, Revision Skincare, the dermatologist- and plastic surgeon–loved brand, just launched a treatment that fits the bill and then some.
Enter: YouthFull Lip Replenisher ($35), aka the latest tool in the quest for younger-looking lips.
Before you chalk the product up as an overpriced lip balm, hear us out. Instead of being filled with low-grade ingredients that only lead to even drier, more chapped lips, it’s filled with ingredients you would trust on your face to iron out wrinkles and boost moisture.
But we’re not the only ones impressed with the product: San Antonio, TX dermatologist Vivian Bucay, MD says she’s a “huge fan” of it, too. “I use it every day at least twice daily, especially now that my lips dry out more easily while wearing a mask,” she says.
Here’s what sets the treatment apart.
Lip-Plumping Ingredients
Cinnamon and peppermint are commonly found in lip-plumping formulas to deliver a temporary “swell” to the lips, but this product relies on top-shelf hyaluronic acid, instead, which Dr. Bucay says, “provides immediate hydration to the lips, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.”
Even more, the Lip Replenisher includes peptides (palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tripeptide-38, and dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline) to “support the dermal matrix for youthful-looking lips,” Dr. Bucay adds. More nourishing ingredients include shea butter, sunflower oil, jojoba esters and portulaca pilosa extract to “restore moisture and seal it in, enhancing the appearance of lip volume and color.”
Shield of Protection
Aside from strengthening and plumping ingredients, the tube is also packed with antioxidants, including green tea and vitamins C and E, to protect from free radical damage caused by the environment. However, the product does not contain sunscreen, so if you’re spending time outside, a layer of lip sunscreen is also recommended for added protection.
In-Office Booster
If hyaluronic acid lip fillers are a part of your regular in-office routine, this little black tube may help extend your results for a bit longer. “When [patients] are in between treatments and want to give their lips some extra definition, products containing hyaluronic acid can help to temporarily plump lips, while moisture can smooth any fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth,” says New York plastic surgeon David Shafer, MD.
Natural, Yet Noticeable Results
As seen below, plumping results can be seen in a matter of hours. When applied before bed, you’ll wake up with a new layer of moisture and pillow-soft lips, giving “beauty sleep” a whole new meaning.
