Reese Witherspoon is never not busy. Between her ever-important posts as a wife and mother to three children, her recent role in blockbuster Sing 2 and being a full-time business owner, the does-it-all star is now also a global brand ambassador for skin-care brand Biossance, and she’s taking the part seriously.
Yesterday, she carved out time to chat about her journey with clean beauty and celebrate the debut of the brand’s biggest launch yet, the Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum ($68), a formula Witherspoon has been using for the past few months and describes as “super plumping.” Also referred to as a “next-level hyaluronic acid,” she notes the peptide-packed serum “turns this really beautiful blue color when applied to the skin” and is one of her daily mainstays.
After dabbling here and there with clean beauty in the past—“but only the supermarket-granola brands,” she says, jokingly—Witherspoon says she took matters into her own hands as she walked into her hometown Sephora in search of a quality clean beauty brand. “I found Biossance, bought the products, fell in love with them, then gave them to my mom who fell in love with them, then she gave them to my sister in law who also loved them,” she says of the love-at-first-try experience. “That’s when I asked my rep to get in touch with the brand because I wanted to get involved.”
Now a global brand ambassador for the brand, Witherspoon says she has a full morning and evening skin-care routine consisting of all-things Biossance. “I do not waver,” she says. “Whether it’s prepping my skin to put my makeup on in the morning or taking it off at the end of a long day, skin care is so important to me.”
As we could assume, Witherspoon’s skin-care routine doesn’t take a break when she’s traveling. “When I’m on airplanes I always have the vitamin C oil with me, the squalane cream and the lip balm with me,” she says of her ultimate travel trio. “I use [the lip balm] on my nose if it gets dry, if my cheeks get dry—it’s really a multi-use product,” she says, noting she even uses it on her dog’s nose if it gets too dry.
While Witherspoon is loyal to Biossance—”the proof is in the pudding,” she says of the brand’s clinically tested efficacy—she allows some wiggle room for a specific on-set skin-care tool. “I do a little roller on my face in the morning when I’m at work,” she shares. “Sometimes I put a patch under my eye and then use this little Gold Bar from Jill Dempsey that I really like. All that massage is really good for your jawline and to wake up your skin.”
