For 20 million young adults worldwide, Proactiv’s signature three-piece clear skin system is a very familiar part of their beauty routine. The benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid trio of products are so ubiquitous across bathroom counters, that Proactiv is the number-one acne brand in America.
Now, the popular skin care line is coming out with one of its biggest launches to date, and a new ingredient. Called ProactivMD, the new line of products features key ingredient 0.1% Adapalene, a formerly prescription-only retinoid that just gained FDA-approval to be sold over the counter without a doctor visit. Ingredient sound familiar? This is also the retinoid found in over-the-counter Differin gel.

“This is a very exciting time for Proactiv. There has not been an ingredient breakthrough of this magnitude in the over-the-counter treatment of acne in quite some time. I’m absolutely overjoyed that we are introducing such an innovative new system to those who struggle with acne. ProactivMD combines prescription-grade Adapalene with Proactiv’s Combination Therapy approach to give consumers an effective skin-clearing system,” said Kimber Maderazzo, executive vice president of brand and product management for The Proactiv Company, in a press release.
The system will contain four products: an exfoliating face wash, an alcohol-free balancing toner, a daily SPF30 moisturizer and the 0.1% Adapalene Gel for use at night. The products are now available at Proactiv.com.
