Think of Erewhon, the illustrious LA-based organic grocer and cafe, and the first thing that may come to mind is celebrity-launched $20 smoothies. Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Gisele Bündchen concoctions aside, Erewhon is also home to Nimbi, the personal care brand committed to providing the world’s first plastic-free shaving system.
Nimbi: Sustainable Shaving Solutions
Nimbi’s collection of disposable razors are not only sustainable (they break down naturally, even in sea water, in 308 days)— they’re designed by women, for women. Its razors use a single Swedish steel blade for a hyper-close shave, boast a minimal and sleek aesthetic made from wood cellulose, clay and pine oil, and are free of toxins and petrochemicals. In lieu of lubricant strips, the brand provides a plastic-free puck with skin nourishing benefits to lubricate the areas pre-shave to prevent issues like keratosis pilaris (KP), ingrown hairs and general irritation.
Nimbi Expands to Target, In-Store and Online
Nimbi debuted at Erewhon last fall and quickly became the grocer’s number-one personal care brand. Now, Nimbi has officially launched in over 900 Target stores and on Target.com, expanding its sustainable ethos across the U.S. “When we envisioned Nimbi in 2018, we set out to change the shaving category indefinitely. True sustainability isn’t about ideals; it’s about meeting people where they are and making better choices second nature. As the leader in the shaving category and a go-to destination for mass beauty discovery, Target makes innovation accessible to the everyday consumer,” explains brand co-founder Anna Reid. Co-Founder Gemma Doyle adds, “Shaving is often an afterthought—something grabbed in a rush. But convenience shouldn’t come at the cost of sustainability, design, or experience. We are so excited that Target could support our vision of the new age of modern, feminine shave care.”
Nimbi’s New Launch
That’s not the only big announcement Nimbi made this week. As of today, the brand has officially introduced its Plastic Alternative Facial Dermaplaners ($6 for a pack of three), a must-try tool to slay away dead skin cells, peach fuzz and hair. Ergonomic and elegant, these precision, high-quality blades are housed in a 100 percent compostable material and are micro-plastic and toxin-free.
