She may not have been named the official MVP of last night’s Super Bowl but, per usual, Mary J. Blige brought her A-game during the halftime performance—and we have the all-important beauty breakdown.
As celeb hairstylist Tym Wallace shared, his inspiration for the Queen of R&B’s look was “ghetto fabulous rockstar,” which he achieved with the product trifecta of Carol’s Daughter, TRESemmé and Tangle Teezer.
First step for the cascading-blonde look: The shampoo-conditioner prep-step of Carol’s Daughter Goddess Strength Shampoo ($11), followed by the Carol’s Daughter Cocoon Mask ($12). “After rinsing, I took a quarter size pump of Carol’s Daughter Goddess Strength Divine Strength Leave In Cream ($12) and brushed through with Tangle Teezer’s The Ultimate Detangler ($14) brush to evenly distribute the treatment through the wet hair while gently detangling.”
For styling, Wallace went with TRESemmé One Step Texture 5-in-1 Texturizing Mist, then sprayed the hair section-by-section with TRESemmé Total Volume Hairspray, using a flat iron and marcel curling iron to create the alternating waves. “Once set and cooled off, I used my fingers to break up the waves,” he adds.
In the final stay-put step: Wallace sprayed TRESemmé Total Volume Hairspray. “Next, I used Tangle Teezer’s The Ultimate Finisher ($18) brush which has soft tips that glide through the hair to create major volume, texture and shine. I finished the look by spraying TRESemmé One Step Texture 5-in-1 Texturizing Mist in my hands and created little piece-like texture.”
