If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my time in the beauty industry, it’s that the key to a flawless glam look is a tried-and-true base. Especially true when it comes to a red carpet or an award show, nailing skin prep is essential if a makeup look is to last all night. For The Morning Show’s Karen Pittman, tonight’s Critics Choice Awards glam was inspired by the timeless beauty of old-Hollywood starlets, but the real key to her long-lasting, radiant complexion was this serum that her makeup artist calls his “secret weapon.”

Inside Skin Prep: Karen Pittman

“The inspiration for Pittman’s Critics Choice Awards beauty look was a retro-glam, Sophia Loren—gorgeous, hydrated skin, lots of lash drama, and glossy, fruit punch lips,” began Pittman’s makeup artist, Vincent Oquendo, via Instagram. “First, I prepped Karen’s skin by double masking with the Bioeffect Imprinting Hydrogel Face Mask ($89) and Imprinting Eye Mask ($49). I wanted her skin to look fresh and frame her bold eyes, so I applied the Bioeffect EGF Essence ($109) to balance her skin and pump up her glow.”

Next up was the product Oquendo referred to in his IG story as his “secret weapon.”

“Next, I pressed a few drops of the EGF Rich 30-Day Treatment to her face and neck. I’ve been working with Karen throughout the 2024 awards season and the 30 Day Treatment really hydrated and plumps her skin, making it look amazing under makeup. I finished with the Bioeffect Hydrating Cream ($79) which provides the perfect base for this Italian movie star–inspired glam.” All we can say is we couldn’t agree more.
