When it comes to top-notch coverage and a flawless finish, every Huda Beauty foundation launch is one for the books. But the latest from makeup maven and creator Huda Kattan is slated to be her best yet.
The brand’s first-ever “social-media sourced formula,” Kattan collected feedback from her 48 million followers to create the the new-and-improved #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation ($40), available today.
Boasting a creamy texture, full-coverage finish and true long-lasting wear—the brand calls the formula “life-proof”—the radiant-meets-matte finish creates a seamless canvas in seconds. And while matte formulas are great for youthful, bouncy complexions, they can be a bit intimidating for faces traced with fine lines. We asked the foundation expert for her number-one tip for camouflaging fine lines and wrinkles with makeup.
“My biggest piece of advice would be to make sure you’re exfoliating and hydrating your skin before you apply any foundation,” she says. “You want to take the best care of your skin and to make sure it’s super hydrated to ensure your foundation doesn’t sit on top of your skin like a second layer, but rather it sinks in to become second skin.”
But not just any exfoliator will do, says Kattan. “Look for a gentle physical exfoliator that will strip away any impurities to create a smooth surface for flawless makeup application,” she says, offering up her in-house favorite Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub ($39). Next, Kattan suggests applying a lightweight serum with a high volume of hyaluronic acid—she favors the Thirst Trap Juice Serum ($53)—”for intense hydration that will help your foundation melt into the skin instead of drying up or creasing inside wrinkles, making them more obvious.”
