If there’s one thing trending right now, it’s season four of Netflix’s The Crown. Royal fans everywhere drool over the show’s drama, romance and political rivalries, but actress Helena Bonham Carter’s role as Princess Margaret may be our favorite part of it all. While her wild character brings the show to life, a recent interview with InStyle revealed that the 54-year-old is actually quite relatable in real life.

Skin Style
Everything in Bonham Carter’s routine comes down to sleep: “People say I look really good, and it’s because I sleep a lot, which is the biggest collagen booster ever,” says the star. It’s amazing that I achieve anything considering how much I sleep. I snooze during the day and eight or nine hours at night to help collagen production.” But, before head-hits-pillow, she applies two of her favorite products: Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil ($105) and Augustinus Bader The Cream ($170). “The jury’s out—I’m staring at my face to see if it’s plumper,” she tells InStyle.

Everyday Essentials
“I’ve always thought imperfect makeup is the best, which is why I smudge everything,” says Bonham Carter. Her two staples are Suqqu Cream Foundation ($80) and, of course, a kohl eyeliner. She also likes to layer the MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss Lipstick ($21). In terms of fragrance, the Beetlejuice actress says specific scents affect her mood. “I baste myself like a turkey in Ilapothecary Feminine Happy Oil ($51). It smells like happiness in a bottle and is energizing and balancing.” She also uses one of our personal favorites: Aromatherapy Associates Bath Oils ($71). “These are amazing because they make me feel automatically more chill.”

Strand Care
Bonham Carter is one of the few A-listers we know whose hairstylist doubles as a best friend. “My oldest friend, Carol, does my hair every two weeks. If I have to do it myself, I wash it and put it in pin curls to give it volume.” But when time is running out, dry shampoo is her other bestie. “I’m a big fan of Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo ($32); it makes my hair look thicker at the roots and gives it some height.  To top off her ‘do, she loves all sorts of hair accessories. “Adding them to my hair is like dressing a Christmas tree,” she tells InStyle.
