When it comes to serving glamorous looks, no one is as consistent as Catherine Zeta-Jones. Case in point: Her red carpet appearance at the Women in Cinema event this past Friday in Saudi Arabia. Appearing alongside husband Michael Douglas, CZJ looked stunning and sultry, and we have all the insider secrets from the evening, straight from her trusted glam squad.
The Makeup
As celebrity makeup Brett Freedman shares, to offset CZJ’s black-lace Marchesa dress—and give a wink to her ruby earrings—he opted for an unexpected shimmery burgundy shadow on the eyes. “I smoked out Catherine’s eyes with a soft bronze and then glazed with a shimmery jewel-toned shadow to give [some] edge.” The product of choice: MAC eyeshadow in Cranberry. “I mixed a touch of this burgundy shade with a little MAC Goldmine shimmery eyeshadow for ultimate pop,” shares Freedman.
For the brows, Freedman’s goal was “to be defined…but not too dark.” Using Brett Freedman Beauty’s duo-shade brow powder in Medium Brunette, he used a “lighter tone behind her natural hair and the deeper tone to sharpen the lines and crispen up the tail.”
On the lashes, it was Ardell in #421. “Catherine has great lashes, but I wanted the wide-eyed, spiked vibe these strip lashes give,” Freedman says, offering this pro tip: “I cut the lashes into four small sections and picket-fenced them across her top lash line.”
Before makeup, Freedman reached for the trusty skin-care standby of Farmhouse Fresh’s Dew Ritual Triple Lipid Facial Oil. “I like to prep the face with something very hydrating,” he says. “I slather [it on the] on face, neck and décolleté, and foundation smooths on beautifully.”
Since the eyes were going to be a glistening garnet shade, CZJ and Freedman opted to keep the lips nude with a slight golden hue. Freedman used Dior lip liner in Sienna Iced with Jouer lip gloss in Skinny Dip.
The Hair
Since CZJ has been shooting Wednesday with long, dark “Morticia hair,” hairstylist Maranda Widlund opted for “soft waves that framed the face and added a touch of upscale sexiness.”
The Styling
Celebrity stylist Kelly Johnson shares that “Catherine and I loved this Marchesa dress that features a cape and a higher neckline added a subtle romantic allure, while still being respectful to the culture.” Johnson completed the look with Briony Raymond jewelry.
