Candace Cameron Bure is firing back at internet trolls making unsolicited comments about her looks. The Full House alum took to her Instagram story on May 19 to share a DM she received from a user telling her she’s “not aging well.”
“U really look old here … not aging well???” the message read, according to Us Weekly. Bure captioned a screenshot of the DM with her own comments about how she receives “countless messages like this on the daily.”
She continued, “As much as I love connecting on social media, this is one of the downfalls. I’m a [middle-aged] woman and can handle rude people. Imagine how this affects our children.” Bure kept going in the next slide, adding that she wasn’t sharing the comment “for sympathy,” but rather to show her nearly six million followers how frequently she has to fend off hurtful comments about her appearance.
“Aging is sensitive. Comments like this hurt, no matter whether they meant to be mean spirited or just a shared ‘opinion,’” she wrote. “As I embrace aging, I’m choosing to do it as naturally and as gracefully as possible.”
Bure has spoken out about her relationship with aging and cosmetic treatments before. She previously told us in a 2020 interview that she gets laser treatments to target sunspots and melasma. While she noted that she’s not a regular Botox user, she does get it at least once a year to “lessen my angry lines.”
“I’ve never had any other injectables or fillers in my face,” she said. “I haven’t had any body treatments either, but I am curious about fat-melters for stubborn areas like my lower back love handles.”
Bure says she assumes the people she gets mean messages from are probably just projecting, adding that she feels “sad for them and pray for their hearts to know the love of God.” She ended her Instagram story rant with a simple message: “Be kind. Uplift others. Spread joy.”
