Is Guerlain’s New $1,500 Skin Care Treatment Spring’s Most Expensive Launch?
By Liz Ritter, Executive Editor |
Guerlain isn’t exactly known for budget anything (seriously, how many brands can brag Angelina Jolie is a spokesperson), and as its latest launch proves, it may successfully break through the skin care stratosphere this spring.
Available in May, the company says that the Orchidée Impériale Black Treatment (it will ring in at $1,550 at Saks Fifth Avenue) is the ONE product you need to give you that much-in-demand “summer glow” at home—before the season actually hits.

So what does that price tag get you? Think of it as an at-home facial, a couple of times over. For starters, there are four separate vials in the treatment and it’s intended to be used over four weeks—a time span the company says will really deliver noticeable, better-skin results. It’s packed with powerful anti-aging ingredients, including Guerlain’s exclusive Blackimmune Technology, which utilizes the strength of the black orchid (the brand started working with the star ingredient last October when it launched the Orchidée Impériale Black Cream) and claims to do something similar for the skin by boosting its self-defense capacities and maximizing cellular regeneration.
As the company told us, what makes this particular launch really different is that, "it acts on 95 percent of the cells that participate in the skin’s immunity. The clinically proven four-week regimen is the ultimate talisman of youth for your skin. With application over the course of the four weeks, the resilience of the skin in restored, while its defensive barrier strengthens and becomes more resistant.”
The end goal after the four weeks: “Skin that is fully renewed, protected from the inside, regenerated and revitalized,” according to the company. (There’s a corresponding Orchidée Impériale The Imperial Radiance Mask from the line, which is available now and retails for $285.)
