If you look back at pictures of yourself circa 1995 and cringe at the sight of your extra-thin eyebrows, you aren’t alone. Now, there’s an Instagram account called @historyofoverplucking available to lighten this feeling of shame and embarrassment. The hilarious account shows how society as a whole was over-plucking brows for decades.

With a bio reading, “everybody makes mistakes” you can scroll through pictures of models, celebs and It-Girls alike rocking pencil-thin brows. From Christina Aguilera to Kate Moss and Drew Barrymore, you’re reminded why you decided to take the tweezers to your brows so harshly back in the day. The trend was everywhere! But it isn’t just women from the ’90s rocking this look. Images of Judy Garland, Twiggy and Greta Garbo also fill this account with pre-90s over-plucking nostalgia.

Alongside the celebrity photographs are multiple works of art that date back even further—yes, even before photography was born. Elizabethan and Renaissance-era paintings show posed women sporting this trend that we so-often associate with the ’90s, proving that what goes around comes around, especially fashion and beauty trends. However, we’re hoping this one won’t come around for a long while.  Like, a long, long while. And if we need a reminder on why, we’ll just scroll through this account again.
