Currently a series regular in Hulu’s relationship-drama “Tell Me Lies,” Alicia Crowder is no stranger to acting both on-stage and behind the camera (she can next be seen in the “Becky Nurse of Salem” by Sarah Ruhl at Lincoln Center Theater this fall). But don’t ask the Dallas native and Juilliard graduate to leave her “life-changing” puffer jacket at home as the seasons change this fall. We recently caught up with the 25-year-old who shared some of her other non-negotiable essentials, including a have-to-try-it liner hack.

You have a lot of projects happening this fall-winter. What do you do to wind down?

Before I ever started acting, I loved to draw. Visual art has always been very special to me, and something I always turn to when I want to unwind and enjoy some time alone. I mostly work in pencil, focusing on drawing faces and bodies. In my apartment, I’ve dedicated an entire wall to pieces I’ve made. It adds a unique, personal touch and brings an artistic flare to the space, which I love.

Are there any unique beauty moments that stuck with you from “Tell Me Lies?”

My wonderful makeup artist Lisa Poe used a the DermaBlend Flawless Creator Foundation ($40) on me for every episode. The coverage is FANTASTIC and still looks like real skin. Also, before the show, I had never really used bronzer, but on-set Lisa introduced me to the NARS Laguna Matte Bronzer ($38). It is so beautiful and warm, you really can’t go wrong.

What was the biggest change beauty or style-wise you saw when you moved from Dallas to New York?

Before moving to New York, I had never experienced real winter—or snow for that matter. I left Dallas in the fall and quickly realized I was ill-equipped for the Northeastern climate. I started off by layering the thin coats I had brought, but then discovered the staple of the puffer jacket, which changed my life. I also saw people wearing chunky boots and clogs, a necessity when stomping around a concrete jungle. I asked for a pair of Danskos that Christmas and never looked back.

What are some of your holy grail beauty products?

No matter what kind of look I’m doing, I use the Revlon lip liner ($9) in the color Chocolate on my bottom lash line to define my eyes. Also, I’ve become obsessed with freckles, and can’t live without my SheGlam Freckle pen ($5) in the color Fawn.
