We all know the saying, “Celebrities, they’re just like us,” and the same goes for beauty editors. Trust me, while you may think we all have our beauty routines down to a science after years of trying, testing and writing, there are certain things that all of us just can’t master and that’s okay! As we head into 2025, I’m already thinking about what I want to do differently in my beauty routine, as are my fellow NewBeauty editors. Ahead, look at five of our editors’ 2025 beauty resolutions.

Rowan Lynam, Staff Writer

“My beauty resolution this year is to consider my body care as much as my skin care. From serums to masks, there’s a lot out there that I haven’t really incorporated into my routine and I want to honor my body the same way I do my face by working in some of those really sensorial, beneficial products. To me, body care is about results but also the self-care experience of it. I always feel like I’ve gone the extra mile when I use a really wonderful smelling body oil or take the time to exfoliate with a sugar scrub.”

Allie Hogan, Senior Beauty Editor

“Although I’m a beauty editor, I’m actually not the best at doing a full beat. One of my beauty resolutions is to update my makeup routine and practice what I preach by trying new trends. I also want to be more consistent about getting facials because they truly make a huge difference.”

Danielle Dooley, Director of Editorial Partnerships

“Listening to my skin! The past almost 10 years of testing (what feels like) every product on earth has really damaged my skin barrier. I’m focusing on healing it this year—it’s super red all the time—enough to finally skip foundation when I feel like it.”

Tatiana Bido, Aesthetic Content Manager

“My main goal for 2025 is to get moving and start running again. I used to run half marathons and want to build my strength to do another. Running has always been amazing for my mental health and I miss how clear and strong it made me feel.

I also want to finally add retinol to my routine. I’m in my 40s and my skin is reactive, so I’ve been too scared to try it, but there are so many great formulations now that I know the only thing stopping me is me.”

Isabelle Buneo, Editorial Assistant

“This year, I want to focus on taking care of my hair. My strands have gone through a lot over the years, from bleaching and dying to heat styling, and I never really committed to repairing my hair after years of harsh treatments. I tend to overwash my hair, so in 2025, I want to get on a better hair-washing schedule, so I’m not stripping my natural oils. I also need to lock in on using an eye cream regularly—a celebrity facialist told me it’s the best thing I can do for my skin in my 20s to prevent signs of aging in the future.”
