When BB creams first came on the scene, we knew they were going to be huge. But we didn’t know they would going to reach popularity of epic proportions. They’re so huge that they started a bit of a trend—beauty brands are already rolling out CC creams and DD creams. But why do we need them and which ones should we choose? Scroll through this gallery to see all the products that go beyond the original BB cream.
Chanel CC Cream Correction Complete SPF 30, $82
Nothing says “luxury” like Chanel, so that’s exactly what you can expect from this CC cream. It soothes, moisturizes, protects against UV damage, prevents future environmental damage and evens out skin tone. The one setback is that it only comes in one color at the moment, so not everyone can enjoy it…yet.
Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-One Beauty Balm Powder, $14
Still a BB cream, but what caught our eye is that this one comes in powder form. It does all the work that you would expect from a BB cream—evens skin tone and minimizes pore appearance. The powder works as a veil to protect against UV damage and even moisture loss. It’s dermatologist tested and also non-comedogenic, so it won’t cause breakouts.
Olay Total Effects CC Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer, $22
CC cream, or color correcting cream, are used to treat and cover blemishes and are oil-free. This one from Olay aims to give color coverage and UV protection. And for those of you looking to stop the signs of aging, it also promotes long-term skin-care benefits for women concerned with wrinkles and sagging skin.
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream, $39
This CC cream from Juice Beauty is a 12-in-one miracle worker that repairs, evens, firms and covers your skin. It also comes in two shades—one for fair to medium skin tones and one for medium to dark skin tones.
Too Faced Air-Buffed BB Crème, $39
Yet another BB cream, but this one also makes our list because of its formulation that turns from a cream to a powder when you apply it. It comes with a brush that’s designed to help create a lightweight, air-brushed finish with buildable coverage. They also added ingredients like rose fruit to refine pores and star fruit leaf to moisturize.
DD Cream
While there aren’t any on the market at the moment, DD, or daily defense, creams are already in formulation. But while BB and CC creams focus on the face, DD cream will target skin care concerns on hands and feet. One cream, recently launched in the UK, addresses skin concerns and doubles as a self-tanning cream.
