Whether you’re a fan of country music or not, you’ve definitely heard the work of Wynonna Judd. More commonly known as just Wynonna, the now 60-year-old Kentucky native is one of the most recognized and decorated female country singers of all time. Not only does the country icon have dozens of hit singles and awards to show for them, she also has one of the most signature looks in the world of country music, echoing the legacy of those like Dolly Parton with her eccentric and recognizable look.
From her fiery red strands to her signature lip liner and blunt-cut bangs, Wynonna has established quite a brand for herself. To celebrate her 60th birthday, we’re looking back at some of the singer’s best beauty moments throughout the years.
Wynonna Judd Through the Years
Before Wynonna’s solo career took off, she was first known for her work alongside her mother, Naomi Judd, in their mother-daughter country duo, The Judds. The Judds were a staple of the ’70s country music scene, and the beginning of Wynonna’s career also marked the beginning of her establishing her signature style. In true ’70s style, Wynonna rocked her red strands in a teased style with fluffy bangs—a style she would recalibrate endlessly throughout her career.
Fast forward several years, a now established Wynonna was taking over the country scene, brushing shoulders with legends like Dolly Parton and Carol Burnett. With her rising fame, Judd also began experimenting with bold eyeshadows and overlined lips. Her dark lip liner and lighter lipstick and gloss would become a staple in the star’s beauty routine. Also in the early 2000s was when Judd began to go a bit darker with her signature red strands, and even started playing with a side part, too.
Nowadays, Wynonna sports her signature style in a thoroughly modern way, playing with Hollywood waves, darker lips and even more lifted contour. The 2000s marked a lot of changes for Judd including the loss of her mother and the beginning of her 55 pound weight-loss journey. “My weight was a symptom and not the problem,” the singer told People in 2010. “I used food to soothe and reward and I don’t do that anymore.” Living a healthier lifestyle, Judd looks positively radiant as she rings in this new decade.
