Your days of bending and twisting every which way while shaving may soon be over. No, you don’t have to move to France or adopt a pants only policy. We’re talking about a new technology that might be able to significantly reduce hair growth and a team of scientists from the University of Pennsylvania have just published information about it in the Archives of Dermatology.

While experimenting with a drug used to treat ocular viral infections, called cidofovir, they found that it caused a form of alopecia when mixed with a 3 percent gel base and applied topically. In the experiment, men were told to apply a small circle on the face every day with a placebo on the other side. They were then told to shave as normal, but stop 48 hours before their next visit. The results showed a significant reduction in hair growth to the side where the gel was applied.

Further tests are still needed before this will become available to the public, but wouldn’t it be nice to not have to shave every day (if you do)? We’re longing for the day this becomes a reality.

Would you use a drug to permanently stop hair growth? Or would you rather stick to your razor and let Mother Nature take her course?
