The Ordinary is on a mission to make your Friday even better. The beloved skin-care and makeup brand has brought back its Serum Foundation ($8), a formula that loyal fans have been asking for ever since it was discontinued.
"At the end of 2022, we decided to bid farewell to a staple within our range," the brand shared in an Instagram post announcing the news. "After seeing all of your enthusiasm for bringing back this much-loved formulation, we decided it’s time to get reacquainted."
There’s just one catch—the Serum Foundation isn’t back for good. "Our original Serum Foundation formula and shade range returns for a limited run," the post continued. "Special in its simplicity, our serum-based formula offers pigment and buildable coverage for an exceptionally smooth, natural finish that showcases your real skin."
The brand also made it clear that it’s listening, noting that it "invites all feedback and promises to be “closely monitoring” reactions. And fans wasted no time making their thoughts known. “Why limited? Then we all have to stock up for years,” one person wrote. Another pleaded, “There are too many people who love this to not make it permanent and extend the shade range. Please.”
The Ordinary addressed shade range concerns, too, explaining that it was only able to reproduce the original lineup for this brief release. "We’re aware of our current shade range limitations and were only able to produce our original range for this limited run," they added in the post. Currently, the brand offers 36 shades.
As for how long the Serum Foundation will be available, that remains unclear at this time. If you’ve been waiting for its return, now’s the time to grab a bottle—or a backup—while you can.
