Over the weekend, pop superstar Lily Allen attended the Charles Finch and Chanel 2026 pre-BAFTA Party in head-to-toe Chanel, but it was her manicure that (rightfully) stole the spotlight. While her fingers were adorned with spectacular custom rings by jewelry designer Brent Neale, all this beauty editor could see was Allen’s milky half-moon manicure set on short squoval nails, a look that’s equal parts classy and cool (not unlike Allen herself) and a fresh alternative to the milky, or invisible, French manicures we’re seeing everywhere.
Letting her Chanel ensemble and jewels take center stage, Allen’s manicure is a masterclass in a neutral nail that’s anything but basic. Combining the vintage look of a half-moon manicure with a contemporary sheer, milky-pink glaze, it’s elegant, eye-catching, and wearable year-round.
Behind the West End Girl’s red carpet nails is celebrity nail artist Michelle Class, who shared on Instagram each step (and product) she used to create Allen’s “milky moon” manicure—all, fittingly, courtesy of Chanel.
First, hand prep. Class applied Sublimage La Lotion Lumière Exfoliante ($220), Sublimage Les Grains De Vanille [currently sold out], Sublimage Le Baume ($455) and Sublimage Le Sérum ($560) to both hands for an intensive (and ultra-luxurious) treatment.
Once Allen's hands were prepped, Class applied a layer of La Base Camélia ($34), a layer of Le Vernis in Skieuse ($34), a frosted pink, to the the nail beds, and Glaciale ($34), a snow-white, to the crescent-shaped area at the base of the nails. Finishing touches included a layer of Le Gel Coat ($34) and L’Huile Camélia ($34), a hydrating oil, applied to the cuticles.
