The world has been on high alert for wedding details since Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged last March. And while the date has yet to be ironed out for the singer and former Yankee player (publicly, at least) the makeup look for the big day has, in true J.Lo fashion, already been locked down.
Behind virtually every one of Lopez’s makeup looks is none other than Scott Barnes, the 50-year-old star’s longtime friend and makeup artist. Known for his glow-boosting hacks and eponymous makeup line, Barnes also just launched his very first lip collections: Lip Fetish, a line of matte lip glosses, and Flossy Glossy, a collection of high-shine glosses.
Each collection will feature 13 shades, but we—and the World of Dance host—have our eyes on one particular hue.
According to the brand, the blush-meets-nude hue, Engagement ($26), was created by Barnes as a tribute to Lopez’s relationship with Rodriguez—and her love for a nude lip.
Though the shade was created after Lopez’s engagement, the star was wearing the exact shade at the 2019 Golden Globes, Gotham Awards, and the Super Bowl, each paired with a different gloss from Barnes’ new collection. Even more special than any awards show, the shade was also created to be worn by J.Lo on her wedding day.
The matte, long-wearing pigment might be named Engagement, but it’s also happens to be the perfect every-day, second-skin nude, too. Created to finally act as the perfect on-camera formula (whether it’s a professional photo shoot or on Zoom), Barnes perfected the consistency to keep it velvety but not thick, and never flaky or drying. The result: lips that feel comfortable and look red-carpet ready whenever it's applied—whether that's before walking down the aisle or dialing into your next meeting.
