Inside a Dermatologist’s Beauty Cabinet: Elizabeth Tanzi

What a top doctor uses on her own skin.

It’s fair to say that dermatologists know a thing or two about how to get beautiful skin. That’s why we are always so interested to know what they are recommending to their patients, as well as which skin care products they actually use themselves. We asked Washington, D.C. dermatologist Elizabeth Tanzi, MD, to open up her beauty cabinet to show us what she is using (and most importantly, loving) to fight signs of aging.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Wash

“I love this cleanser because it takes off everything you need it to, and nothing you don’t. It cleanses without stripping my skin. Put two pumps in your hand and lather (without soap) all over your face (including eye makeup), then rinse well.” $10, neutrogena.com

Epionce Renewal Facial Cream

“This cream stimulates skin cell turnover and is anti-inflammatory, a must for my rosacea-prone skin. It’s a 2-in-1 cream: a treatment and a moisturizer. After I wash my face, I put it on and then I’m ready for bed. It’s simple yet effective.” $94, epionce.com

Revision Skin Care DEJ Eye Cream

“This eye cream stimulates a little collagen. It’s creamy, but not too greasy, so it’s even good for the upper eyelids, too. Eye cream should be the first thing that is applied to the face after washing, otherwise you may have residue from your other face products on your fingers that could irritate the eye area.” $80, revisionskincare.com

Colorescience Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen Brush SPF 30

“I never leave home without one of these in my bag. It’s like having a fantastic pressed powder to touch up my makeup, but it really is the most effective SPF available. I’m never without good sunscreen coverage, and it looks so polished regardless of whether I’m at the office or watching my son’s baseball game on the weekend. I love this product.” $57, colorescience.com
