For “beauty aficionado” Ayesha Curry, introducing her brand Sweet July Skin to the market is just as much about self-care as it is about celebrating her Jamaican roots and family-fueled rituals. “This one took a long time,” the 34-year-old says, while sharing some of the must-haves that hit the mark. “It had to be right.”

“I wanted everything in the line to smell good, feel great on the skin, and still feel great after you use it. I love that our Pava Exfoliating Cleanser ($39) is like a vacation for your skin. You get this beautiful, cool-breeze feeling after you wash your face. It’s incredible.”

“If I had to pick one ‘holy grail’ from my line, it would be the Pava Toner ($32). It contains glycolic acid that helps minimize pores and gently resurfaces skin. It smells great, and it’s super effective. We just received our consumer-testing results, and I’m thrilled that the testers agree! It’s been a great product for me.”

“The biggest thing for me is sunscreen. I dabble between Cay Skin ($34) and Black Girl Sunscreen ($15.99). They came out with one that’s great for underneath makeup; I love that one. I try not to wear a lot of makeup when it’s hot out, but SPF is huge for me.”

“I have been obsessed with the Clean Skin Club disposable face towels for like a year now. They really make a difference! Not using your traditional washcloth for your face helps avoid all the bacteria. I buy a lot of those."

“Getting out into nature is an essential part of my self-care routine. When the weather is nice in the Bay area, I love paddle-boarding and going on hikes. Things like that really help me mentally. So does making my morning and night skin-care routines nonnegotiable, even if they’re only five minutes. Just going through the steps helps to keep me happy and keeps my skin in check.”

“I have this little device that you hook up to your faucet called Filterbaby and it is amazing. It not only filters the water you drink, but also the water you wash your face and hair with. I really think that washing my face with filtered water is helping my skin tremendously.”
