The much-beloved kitchen staple of the lemon never let us down when it comes to its multitasking beauty benefits. Here are three off-the-radar (and beyond simple) DIY concoctions from New York aesthetician Cecilia Wong that we had never tried—yet now we are totally hooked.

Exfoliate and brighten the skin. Cut a lemon in half, dip it in raw sugar, add a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt to it, then rub in a gentle, circular motion on knees, armpits and elbows to target discoloration. It sounds good enough to eat, but the same method can also be used on cuticles and the bottoms of feet to remove dry, flaky skin and calluses and corn.

Moisturize, soften and soothe dry, tired feet. Peel two lemons and boil the rinds for several minutes, then let cool. Soak feet in a bin/bowl filled with water, the lemon rinds, juice from the lemons, and 1 tsp. pink Himalayan sea salt mixed with 2 tsp. coconut oil.

Target oil, dandruff and an itchy scalp with this super easy hair rinse. Pour the juice of two squeezed lemons in a quart of water onto hair in the shower or bath.
